Stuck on download or install?

The five things that trip people up most. If your issue isn't here, hit the help desk — we read every ticket.

01 I can't find the email with my password.
Check your spam, promotions, and "all mail" folders for messages from [email protected]. Still nothing after 5 minutes? Hit the help desk and we'll reset it manually within an hour. You can also use "Email me a magic link" on the app's login screen — it works without your password.
02 macOS says "Crate Hackers can't be opened" or "developer cannot be verified".
Right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications and choose Open, then click Open in the warning dialog. You only need to do this once. The app is signed and notarized — Gatekeeper just gets nervous on first launch from outside the App Store.
03 Windows SmartScreen blocked the installer.
Click More info on the SmartScreen warning, then Run anyway. The installer is signed by Crate Hackers, LLC — Microsoft just hasn't seen enough downloads of new builds yet.
04 The app installed but won't connect to my music library.
On first launch, follow the walkthrough to get setup. After the fact, go to Settings → Music sources → Add folder and make sure all of your music sources are scanned — including any music on your desktop computer and any music on external drives. To connect to Serato or VirtualDJ, go to Settings > DJ Software and choose ALL of the DJ softwares you use. This will help us also find music in your DJ software. Never modify your existing crates — we only read them. Detailed walkthrough in the quickstart setup video.
05 I got the wrong subscription / want to change plans.
